Before the installation, remove any OEM skid plates or any plastic covers under the engine and transmission.
Install the billet jacking block (one on Tundra/Sequoia, two on Tacoma/4Runner/GX550/LC250) onto the front main crossmember. Insert the provided M5 rivet nuts into the two holes marked in red, and bolt the jacking blocks onto it. Do not over tighten.
Images showing where the jacking block sits in relation to the middle skid plate.
NOTE: DO NOT use the skid plate as jacking points, unless the billet jacking block is installed. Only jack directly below the billet jacking block.
Install the front two skid plates first and then the rear plate with the provided hardware. Do not tighten any bolts until all the plates are all lined up perfectly.
Torque down all the M8 bolts to 21 ft-lbs./29 Nm.
Note that on the Tacoma and 4Runner, the non-hybrid powertrain vehicles will use the two middle mounting holes on the rear plate, and the hybrid versions will use the rear two holes on te rear plate.
For Tundra, Sequoia and GX550, leave the rear two bolts on the middle skid plate off. Follow the next steps to install the Catalytic Converter Shield.
Remove the inner M10 bolt on each side of the transmission crossmember. Make sure to leave the outer ones on.
Insert one provided M10 bolt with a washer in reverse on each side of the crossmember, as shown in the picture.
Attach the Catalytic Converter Shield to the crossmember by installing the long M10 bolts and nuts with a washer on each end.
Make sure the Cat shield is sandwiched between the frame and the middle skid plate.
Insert the provided M8 bolts with washer to the rest of the mounting holes.
Torque down all the M8 bolts to 21 ft-lbs./29 Nm. and M10 bolts to 48 ft-lbs./65 Nm.
Enjoy the extra protection to the catalytic converters as well as the transmission!
